Upgrade Symfony without losing sight of the business application.
We modernize Symfony applications along supported upgrade paths. Old bundles, custom extensions and mature configuration are not only replaced technically. They are checked against real business behavior.
When the framework and application drift apart
Symfony upgrades rarely fail on the core alone. The hard work sits in bundles, security configuration, Doctrine, templates and custom integration code.
- The Symfony LTS release is out of support or approaching end of life.
- Composer can no longer resolve dependencies onto supported versions.
- Old bundles or custom extensions block PHP and framework upgrades.
- Security, authentication or Doctrine behavior changed across several major releases.
What we assess and deliver
- Review of Symfony, PHP and Composer versions plus all bundles and plugins
- Upgrade path with required intermediate versions and explicit blockers
- Cleanup of outdated configuration, recipes, security and dependency-injection patterns
- Replacement or adaptation of incompatible bundles and custom extensions
- Test coverage for critical controllers, commands, queues and database access
- Controlled release with migration, cache, worker and rollback plan
Clear service boundaries
- A framework upgrade does not replace business acceptance testing.
- Unmaintained third-party bundles may require custom replacement work.
- Large Doctrine and data migrations are tested and scheduled separately.
- Major releases are only skipped when Symfony and its dependencies support it safely.
From assessment to a dependable result
- 01
Build the upgrade path
Versions, deprecations, bundles and custom extensions are combined into a dependable sequence.
- 02
Protect behavior
Critical web, CLI and background processes receive the necessary automated and business checks.
- 03
Migrate in stages
Framework, packages and configuration move through testable intermediate states.
- 04
Control the release
Database migrations, cache, workers and deployments ship with monitoring and a rollback path.

Keep the next LTS change small.
Regular updates, tests and documented releases stop future Symfony upgrades from becoming rescue projects.
Explore application managementWhat to know before contacting us
Can a very old Symfony version still be upgraded?
Usually. The effort depends on PHP, bundles, custom architecture and the number of skipped major releases. An assessment shows whether a direct or staged path is safer.
Do you use Symfony Rector and deprecation tools?
Yes, when they fit the starting point. Automated changes are reviewed and backed by tests because tools do not understand business behavior.
What happens to abandoned bundles?
We assess replacements, remove unnecessary behavior or move the required part into small, owned code.
Can future upgrades become regular maintenance?
Yes. Application management can put Symfony, PHP and dependency updates onto a recurring maintenance schedule.
