How a property platform became extendable again
A mature property application needed new workflows without putting its existing business rules or day-to-day operation at risk.

The application knew more than its documentation
Rules for properties, contracts and recurring processes had grown directly inside the application over several years. Even a small change reached into multiple areas. Before adding anything, we had to establish which rules belonged together and where hidden dependencies lived.
A full rewrite would only have moved the risk. The useful path was to read the existing software, protect its critical flows and add new capabilities inside the business model already used every day.
We organized the business logic before extending it
The work did not start with new screens. It started with the workflows that had to remain correct.
Mapped critical workflows
We followed inputs, state changes, database writes and downstream processes along real user journeys.
Separated rules from side effects
Business rules moved into clearer boundaries so new requirements would not create more special cases in controllers and forms.
Built new flows in small slices
Each step could be reviewed and released on its own. Existing users did not have to change their entire process at once.
Put the handover into the code
Tests, clear names and short technical notes kept the important decisions close to the next change.
What changed
- New workflows ran inside the existing application without forcing a high-risk rebuild.
- Important rules and dependencies became easier to locate for future development.
- Changes could be scoped, tested and handed over in smaller units.
Old software does not automatically need replacing. Business applications contain years of hard-won rules. Our job was to make that value visible and renew the parts that blocked further development.
The client name, product name and specific business rules have been removed. The sequence condenses real project work.
